On March 19, 2016 was released the album 7.83Hz of the Italian band Otus and only now I discovered it thanks to our partner 666MrDoom.
Well the name of the album already begins interesting because 7.83hz or also known as Schumann Resonance refers to the low electromagnetic field of the Earth where it is also used in meditative practices.
So we’ll have a psychedelic album? Just psychedelic not, but extremely brutal also because Otus presents us with nine tracks of an intimate relationship between Sludge Metal, Post Rock and Doom Metal. Mantras here are played along with an extremely heavy sound that reminds me of the Brazilian band Monster Coyote, mainly because of the construction of guitars and guttural and that brutality bumps into psychedelic passages so well built because of its Post Rock influence.
The whole album works as it should where the encounters the psychedelic brutality really made me relax and stop to listen to this unusual work but with an impeccable amount. Long life to the Otus.
